I had an idea for a time travel story where a man from 1887 invents time travel, but only forward. To avoid disastor he leaves a note for his assistant to find telling him that he went to the year 2000 and to have breakfast ready for him when he gets there, but after he travels forward in time his machine shorts out and causes his lab to burn down with the note. So when he arrives in the year 2000 in a Wal-Mart during the Holiday Season, there's no breakfast for him and he goes mad. Eventually.
I'm still working on it.
